CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Current plans and procedures regarding COVID-19

Thursday, March 19, 2020

Oak Hill Baptist Church family,

In this season of uncertainty, I am reminded of these words from James 1:2-5:

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”

We are, without a doubt, facing a trial—one of global proportions. Thankfully, our God has promised to supply us with the wisdom necessary to navigate such challenging times.

In light of this, the staff and leadership of OHBC consider it wise and necessary to make temporary changes due to the challenges we face regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. These decisions have not been made hastily, but rather with much prayer and counsel.

Accordingly, OHBC will be taking the following steps:

There will be no services or gatherings on campus until further notice. This includes Sunday worship services, midweek programming for all age groups, and all other on-campus activities and events.

In place of our weekend and midweek services, we encourage you to worship with us online through the live stream available on our website. Sunday services will live stream at 8:30, 9:45, and 11am as usual. A brief midweek service will live stream on Wednesdays at 7pm.

While it is necessary that we temporarily suspend our in-person gatherings, the ministry of the church never stops. OHBC will continue to rely upon your financial support to move forward both during and after this time of uncertainty. We assure you that we are taking steps to reduce costs and overhead as is appropriate at this time. Nevertheless, we still have payments to make and facilities to maintain. Additionally, we must continue to financially support our pastoral staff as well as the missionaries that depend on our giving.

Therefore, we are asking that you please continue to contribute financially as you are able. For your convenience, we do offer online giving. To learn more about online giving or to contribute, visit our online giving page. You can also send your contributions via mail to:

With that said, we are also aware that such times of uncertainty may naturally result in hardships for you or your family. Again, just because we are temporarily suspending our on-campus gatherings doesn’t mean that we cease being the church. Should you find yourself in a place of need, please notify us by phone at (606) 679-8496 so that we might assist you to the very best of our ability.

As previously mentioned, these changes are temporary and necessarily subject to change. To stay informed of up-to-date plans and procedures, visit oakhillbaptist.com/coronavirus. Additionally, updates will be posted on the Oak Hill Baptist Church Facebook page. You can also sign up to receive text updates by texting OHBC to 25827

As the church, let us remember that it is our responsibility to pray. Pray for our government leaders and officials as they make important decisions to lead our nation, state, and community during this time. Pray for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers that are on the front lines. Pray for OHBC, specifically for God’s protection and provision for the men, women, and children that make up our church body. Finally, pray that, even in the midst of such difficulties, the gospel would continue to go forth and that men, women, and children would place their hope and trust in Jesus Christ.

Finally, be encouraged. Though we face uncertainties and unknowns, God does not. He has never been caught off-guard. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and always in control. Therefore, let us remember and trust that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

Sincerely,

Pastor Gary and OHBC Leadership
